So why do I recommend audio business books to help grow your business?

Well, first of all because I believe they work. Let me tell you why. From personal experience, I would often struggle to find the time to sit down and get through many of the business books that were sat on my book shelf, simply because there always seemed to be something more important on my daily “to do” list.

“The 5 Most Important Questions You Will Ever Ask About Your Organization” by Peter F. Drucker is a very unique business audio book, in the sense that it is not your typical business start-up audio that simply regurgitates the same information you might get from your typical business advice bureau.

Instead it forces the listener to focus on the fundamentals running a successful business, by discussing only the 5 most important questions they must ask themselves.

And whilst this unabridged digital audio book does not go into great detail about all the aspects of running a business, I feel this is where its strength lies, as it does not over complicate things and rather ensures that the listener remembers the fundamentals during every critical stage of their business.

Here are some of the questions that are examined during the audio book:

What is our mission?

This is the first question and is often the most overlooked by many small business owners. Peter Druker states that without a clearly defined mission, a business is doomed to struggle. As having a strong, focused mission provides guidance “not just about what you do, but equally what not to do”!

He then goes on to illustrate ways in which you should build your own mission statement to help guide your decision making process.

Who is our customer?

Again, another simple question on the surface, but undoubtedly another one of the most important questions that all entrepreneurs must be able to answer. If your answer to this question is “Everybody”, then I encourage you to think again. Drucker tells you exactly why you should not be trying to sell to everyone and instead he reveals exactly why “our business is not to casually please everyone, but to deeply please our target customers”.

He then shows ways that you can strategically position yourself to have a tightly focused market that will already want what it is you have to sell!

What does the customer value?

This is again something that most business owners get wrong right off the bat. They often assume that what they have for sale is what the customer will want to buy, but the fact of the matter is that “Leadership should not even try to guess at the answer but should always go to the customers in a systematic quest for those answers.”

Druker then moves on to demonstrate the different types of customers that we need to please, and tells us the difference between the Primary customer and the supporting customers, and how we can best please them.

I will leave you to discover the other 2 questions for yourself as this audio book is essentially a business self-assessment process, whereby you will be able to examine and measure your own business against and see what needs to be changed and where you should be focusing your effort.

This business audio book is just under 2 hours in length and therefore can quite easily be listened to whilst commuting to and from the office. Short, sharp and to the point. Definitely worth it!

In this unabridged audio book, British multi-millionaire entrepreneur Felix Dennis describes his account of how to get rich, or at least the process of how he became rich. Many of the principles he talks about are quite contrary to common business advice, but perhaps that is why he is a multi-millionaire where most other so called business “experts” aren’t.

Unlike a simple list of instructions of how to get rich, this is a story that details the ups and downs of going from rags to riches. His blunt and in your face personality might not necessarily be to everyone’s taste, but if you are able to look beyond this, you are in for some true business gems of wisdom.

Felix Dennis explains the importance of choosing the right markets and how to go about entering them. And why you should never be guided by the idea of a glamorous industry, such as designer goods. He also talks about why it is so important to “truly delegate” and only hire people that are smarter than you are.

He goes into great detail about how you should hire, praise and nurture talent before finally firing them! His approach to business appears to be almost ruthless at times, but he likes to describe the acquisition of wealth as a game, to be played and enjoyed.

In this audio business book, Felix emphasises the importance of getting 100% ownership of your business, and states that it is not only important, but it is the only thing that really matters. Felix even then accredits this attitude to saving him many millions of British pounds during the course of his career, had he given in to follow employees in his early days, who had attempted to bribe him with ultimatums to split business shares.

His hardnosed approach to business and the lessons he passes on to the listener can benefit both new and seasoned entrepreneur alike. He even makes the point of stating that team work is for idiots. Unless you own the team of course!

How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis is truly in a league of its own and has received many mixed reviews. This is likely accredited to the fact that many listeners were merely offended by his outspokenness of his personal shenanigans. This aside, it’s important to remember that the main reason a person would listen to this business audio book is because they too want to learn, how to get rich.

And therefore it can’t be denied that a man who has acquired a net worth of almost a billion dollars in his career, surely qualifies to teach a lesson or two about business, and personally I took away many very important business lessons from this audio book and must admit I even enjoyed many of his entertaining stories.

In her thought provoking and potentially life changing audio book bestseller, Dr. Susan Jeffers teaches individuals how to overcome deep seated fears and break through old, limiting thought patters.  The methods that she teaches are easy to apply and can produce remarkable results in a short period of time.

First off she identifies fear as simply a state of mind and that the number one underlying cause of fear is usually associated to the unfounded belief that we could not handle whatever it is that we are afraid of.

This is because one of the biggest reasons that individuals fail in business or worse still don’t even attempt to go ahead in the first place can often be attributed to fear.

Fear of failure or even fear of success are often followed by a state of procrastination where the individual waits for circumstances to be “just right” or for a moment where they will have more courage before they proceed to act.

Unfortunately we know that courage is usually a RESULT achieved through action and is not normally acquired in advance. But thankfully due to Dr. Susan Jeffer’s exercises, we are able to condition our mind in advance and almost trick our subconscious mind into believing that we can handle whatever it is life puts in front of us.

This effective and truly inspiring business audio book is a definite a must have if you are experiencing fear or procrastination in any area of your life, whether business or personal, and can help you overcome your fears and reach happiness and financial success.
